PUCCINI BOMBONI — unique pure tasting chocolate brand created by Ans van Soelen and her daughter Sabine van Weldam. In 1987 Ans van Soelen and Sabine van Weldam opened their first dessert shop on the Staalstraat, Amsterdam.
PUCCINI BOMBONI has not always exclusively been a chocolatier but initially offered delicious cakes and rustic drinks in addition to the five original PUCCINI BOMBONI chocolate creations. These original bonbons were the start of something special for PUCCINI BOMBONI and some eight years later their distinctive success led to an exclusive focus on offering the finest chocolates in Amsterdam and the Netherlands.
Word spread quickly, and a second store was opened in Amsterdam on the Singel. PUCCINI BOMBONI with an excellent range of natural flavors and handmade aesthetics left a lasting taste in every visitors’ mind, which spread PUCCINI’s fame well beyond Amsterdam’s city limits. That’s how PUCCINI BOMBONI has grown into the brand it is today — one that operates on a par with the most distinguished chocolatiers worldwide.

Each purchase of a box of chocolates is completed with a miniature booklet containing information on the full range of bonbons. This helps to keep those delicate experiences fresh and to make next decision easier.
The creators draw inspiration for new flavors and aromas from their favorite dishes and ingredients that, in their opinion, go well with chocolate.
From Amaretto to anise. From pepper to poppyseed. From tea to thyme. These unique flavours are intensified by combining them with the purest of chocolate foundations sourced from a range of 70% chocolate.
“Some flavours like the Vanilla Poppyseed and Cognac come especially from the cakes we used to make. Some flavours like Tamarind come from candies, others like Lemongrass come from sorbet, — say the founders. — The Pepper bonbon is a flavour that required a large amount of trials and testing before we reached a product that we were really happy with”.
One of the most popular candy sets — Opera Selection — the finest bonbons made from a base of nuts, fruit and liquor. Available in two versions, non-alcoholic and with alcohol.

For vegans, a set of three types of mouth-watering handmade sweets has been developed — Vegan Selection — coconut ganache enrobed in dark chocolate, the best marzipan from Luebeck enrobed in dark chocolate and topped with a crown of currants and crisp dark chocolate on a carpet of Puccini Bomboni’s own cocoa sugar and topped with a Perigord Walnut enrobed in dark chocolate and cocoa powder.
