“The Dreamers” also known as “Mechtateli” is a gastronomic cafe on the Fontanka embankment. Having opened 6 years ago, they almost immediately became a cult place, widely known not only in St. Petersburg but also beyond.
There is a wide selection of breakfasts for every taste, a large room with surreal drawings, a wine list with over 200 wine positions, windows overlooking the historic embankment of the Northern capital and a very friendly team.
“Breakfast should be hearty, tasty, always with good coffee and sometimes a glass of sparkling wine, and of course, surrounded by the most beloved people. It seems to me that it is a kind of breakfast that people come to us. Guests are also very fond of our main menu, but with breakfasts is a special excitement. Specially those who visit the city and come to us for the first time — they often do it for breakfast!”, — says the founder of the project Lyudmila Ivanova.
As a morning aperitif at “The Dreamers” you can choose not only a glass of Sparkling wine (230 rub), but also French Champagne (650 rub). If you want something more original and summer-like, a glass of Bellini based on mango or sea buckthorn is perfect (390 rub).
Breakfasts on the menu are consist of traditional dishes: omelets, cottage cheese cakes, toasts, but everything is in author’s view.
Often, going out to have breakfast somewhere outside the home, we undeservedly ignore porridge — it seems too common and traditional. However, porridge at “The Dreamers” rather resemble desserts while retaining the familiar, recognizable taste — Baked oatmeal with pecan praline and berries (520 rub).
“I’m a real fan of breakfast myself. If time allows me, I love to cook something delicious at home, if not — I have breakfast at the “The Dreamers”, — continues Lyudmila, “morning rituals are very important for me, to sit with coffee at the window, sometimes even read something, write down ideas, make a plan for the day. Morning is a favorite time of the day”.
If you are planning a busy day ahead, for example, with a long walk around St. Petersburg, then hearty Hash brown with salmon eggs, poached egg and mornay sauce (650 rub) or Sandwich with vegetable escalivada and poached egg (540 rub) are the best choice.

Omelettes may be a bit lighter option: the new one, Omelette with crab and cream pesto (690 rub) or the real hit of the “The Dreamers” — Omelette with venison and baked corn cream (590 rub).
“When everything was normally operating with the borders, foreigners were our frequent guests, they liked our format and atmosphere,” — says Lyudmila, “Local products are of great interest, they are actively interested in gastronomy and local traditions”.
Syrniki are especially popular at “The Dreamers” and not only among foreigners. Cooked on ricotta and with different toppings added, they definitely deserve attention: “Syrniki” with drunk blueberries and coconut cream (560 rub), “Syrniki” with caramel and sour cream (540 rub).
If you just want to drink coffee with fresh pastries, you should try the airy and crispy Cruffin with icing and phistachios (190 rub). Or for fans of the classics — Chocolate or Almond croissant (190 rub).
Along with the “The Dreamers” menu, Lyudmila Ivanova is proud of her team. “Amazing people gathered here, interesting, creative, open-minded, bright, and it is a great value to work in such an environment and great love,” — she says. I would like to wish all our guests to come to us with an open heart, not to be afraid to experiment, not to deny themselves what they especially want and to have the maximum pleasure. “
