The youngest in Helsinki The Folks Hotel Konepaja, opened in October 2020, immediately attracted attention of guests with its unique location, inspiring atmosphere and high professionalism.
The Folks Hotel Konepaja stands for warm hospitality and sincere desire of the staff to be as close to guests as possible. A place where you want to return again and again.
Unusual Place
The hotel is located in three different age brick buildings of the former workshops of the Konepaja carriage works. The tempestuous industrial past and history of the plant are reflected in the interiors and lifestyle of Folks.
You can admire the frescoes and paintings created by the workshop workers on the walls and ceiling of the oldest administrative building built in 1901.
The hotel reception and restaurant are located in a former dining room and student school built in 1921.

“The place itself is very interesting, with its past, — says The Folks General Manager Elli Suutarinen, — now it’s developing all the time, cultural institutions, restaurants and cafes are opening, which attracts tourists and residents of Helsinki. And along with the bubbling life this place is very calm, peaceful, with its own special ambiance. We believe that our hotel will be the right place for a good pastime — for couples, for families and even for the guests with pets”.
Comfort First
To make the hotel suitable for all guests, The Folks provides several different room categories: Standart, Superior, Minisuite, Loft, Suite. They are all united by high quality interior design and all the amenities for a comfortable stay.
Each room has air conditioning, Wi-Fi, shower, hairdryer, TV, safe, bath accessories, premium perfumes from Rituals brand. A distinctive touch of the hotel is Smeg refrigerator, which is available in all rooms — it also serves as a minibar which is only filled on request.
“We develop our services from a guest’s point of view”, — says Elli. “The Folks concept is that a person only books and pays for services that interest him. This can be done in advance or upon arrival at the hotel”.
In addition to drinks from the minibar, these services include a parking space, bathrobe, slippers, tea and coffee making facilities in the room.
Among higher category rooms, Loft is a special pride of the hotel. A beautiful old red brick wall left unchanged and about five meters height of the room reflect the history and spirit of the building and the area itself. The modern interior gives a space an interesting contrast.
Loft features its own kitchenette with Nespresso coffee machine and microwave, and a special dining area. All higher category rooms rooms have a Tempur bed for comfort and profound sleep as well as a bathrobe and slippers.
Minisuite and Suite rooms are located in the historic part of the hotel. Soft and noble colors of walls and furniture, hardwood floors and original lampshades add a special charm.
The proximity to Linnanmäki amusement park is one of the advantages of the location when choosing a hotel for families with children.
“We understand what services are needed by families with children. For this we have provided family rooms where children can sleep in bunk beds, — continues Elli. — And our Common Kitchen, equipped with everything you need, is suitable for cooking. Here you can sit with your family and even invite your friends.”
Moreover, all the equipment in the kitchen is from Smeg.
