Filled with the finest works of art from around the world, rare designer furniture, great cuisine and cosmopolitan bars, THE THIEF is a special hotel that invites guests to “escape” from the dullness of everyday life and enjoy first-class relaxation in the most favorable atmosphere in the center of Oslo.
THE THIEF Hotel is a member of Nordic Hotels & Resorts and was voted Best Hotel of the Year 2021 by the Condé Nast Traveler Reader’s Choice Awards.
Oslo’s city center is a breathtaking mix of old and new in a beautiful fjord landscape. Tjuvholmen, where THE THIEF is located, is not only one of the newest neighborhoods in Oslo, but also a must-see for fans of design and architecture. The area is known for its rich variety of art installations between houses, art galleries, high standard restaurants with a unique setting.

Designed by award-winning architecture firm Mellbye Architects, THE THIEF, a curved nine-storey hotel, blends in seamlessly with the island’s modern developments and is currently the only hotel to achieve design hotel status in Norway.

The hotel offers a magnificent view of the famous Oslo Fjords. The Astrup Fearnley Museum of Modern Art is close to the hotel, and a footbridge leads to the bustling business district of Aker Brygge.

Due to the close proximity to the museum and the cooperation between them, the hotel has a large collection of contemporary art. And the unique design of glass, granite and gold makes it the pearl of Norwegian boutique hotels.

“Almost 10 years have passed since the opening of the hotel, during this time we have established ourselves as a strong brand with an excellent reputation. But we do not rest on our laurels and continue to move forward. It’s important for me to further develop the brand, strengthening our position as the leading luxury hotel in Norway, — says General Manager Robert Holan. — Our mission is to steal a guest from everyday life (smiles), but this is also a historical reference to the old name of this area. Tjuvholmen Island, or Thief Islet, hence the name of the hotel, once it was a haven for smugglers, thieves and scoundrels. And now we are stealing our guests to provide them with the best holiday experience. Our staff is very professional, helpful, friendly and knows how to have fun, which is also important in the hotel business.”
ROOMS & SUITES

THE THIEF offers 116 rooms and suites with panoramic windows and balconies, making each room brighter and more spacious. Carefully selected artwork combined with soft, muted interior tones create a unique and rich atmosphere. And sophisticated lighting can change the atmosphere of a room from bright studio to subdued and very soft.

“We have a very strong art program, 102 pieces of art in total, all of which belong to the hotel and can also be found in the rooms. Art gives us a new dimension and a fresh atmosphere and helps us stand out from others,” — says Robert Holan.

Each room has a Nespresso coffee machine, docking station, a Geneva sound system, a television, air conditioner, free Wi-Fi, an iron and a hairdryer. The bathrooms have a large bathtub with a rain shower, all the necessary bath accessories, premium cosmetics.
THE THIEF ROOFTOP

Informal, casual, dynamic, stylish, THIEF FOODBAR serves modern Scandinavian cuisine inspired by dishes from around the world, made with the freshest local ingredients, with a special focus on seafood.

During warm months from May until the end of September, FOODBAR offers an À la carte menu on the rooftop of the hotel, which offers a magnificent view of the city.

One of the most popular positions of the menu — SEAFOOD PLATEAU — along with THIEF’s House Champagne Alfred Gratien or other champagne houses represented in the wine card makes a perfect & timeless combination.

On weekends, brunches are served here, which have gained great popularity among guests and locals. Before or after dinner, you should definitely visit the bar for its specialty cocktails and an excellent selection of whiskeys and other alcoholic drinks.

During the cold season, THIEF FOODBAR welcomes guests on the second floor of the hotel, where buffet breakfasts are also served all year round.

Breakfast selection offers rich variety of local delicacies, fresh and healthy snacks, drinks, fruits and pastries. Freshly squeezed juices, smoothies and Champagne are also available to enjoy during morning meal.
THE THIEF SPA — CITY MEETS FJORD

THIEF SPA brings together the most interesting ideas of spa cultures from all over the world — sauna, Turkish hammam, Moroccan clay treatments, relaxing back and body massages from the best professional therapists, facial treatments, including deep facial cleansing, as well as manicure services.

The Spa allows for daily exercise in the well-equipped gym or in the quiet bay-like pool, which offers the opportunity to plunge into the soothing water of the famous Norwegian fjords.
MORE TO OFFER

Robert Holan: “We say we treat rock stars like guests and guests like rock stars. In a way, we are also rock stars, the staff, the people who work here. Wearing our “T” sign means that we are on stage to perform and give our best to the guests. We strive to provide the highest quality services, thought out to the smallest detail and pleasant surprises. We do our best to offer the best hotel experience to everyone. We are very focused on high quality. It is very important to have a sense of style, but with a twinkle in the eye and a touch of fun.”
