THERASIA RESORT SEA & SPA is not just a hotel, it is an emotion to be experienced in a whirlwind of wildlife colors and modern charm in the paradise of the island of Vulcano.
The Mediterranean atmosphere, the Aeolian islands that stand out softly on the horizon, the exclusive hospitality and the luxury of a vacation in the lap of nature make the resort dominate this breathtaking location.

THERASIA RESORT is part of “THE LEADING HOTELS of the World”, a leading organization representing the finest in luxury hospitality worldwide.

The founders of the resort are the Polito family, while it all started with the mother of the family, Maria Polito, who in the late 1960s turned the small family house “Casa Maria” into a vacation home where she accommodated tourists in the summer. Her sons also contributed, helping her during vacations by working in the garden. In the early 1980s, the small house became the Hotel Parco Maria, surrounded by a beautiful garden. And in 2003 the family bought the THERASIA RESORT SEA & SPA hotel in a fantastic location overlooking the sea and surrounded by unspoiled nature.

The mesmerizing island of Vulcano, which still has an active vulcano, is the pulsating heart of the Aeolian Islands, rising from the Tyrrhenian Sea with its vibrant green vegetation, black volcanic sand and azure crystal sea.

Once arrived at this place, from the very first seconds it charms you with its soft Mediterranean lines mixed with harmonious Aeolian architecture formed by typical pulere (columns), cannizzi (thatched roofs) and arches facing the sea.

THERASIA RESORT has 3 outdoor swimming pools (one with sea water) as well as private access to the sea.

The rooms of the elegant and romantic hotel bring to mind the wild elements of this land, thanks to the skillful use of local materials, from lava stone and terracotta to cedar and olive wood. A thousand shades of soft colors relax the soul to find a natural balance in the perfect tranquility of this oasis.
ROOMS & SUITES

The rooms and suites, both with superb views of the endless blue of the sea and the breeze caressing the face, enchant with their luxury and intimacy of the open spaces, as well as the individual approach to the decoration of each room — precious materials such as black lava stone and glazed Sicilian terracotta create an unforgettable experience in the wonderful surroundings of the Aeolian Islands.

Exquisite furnishings and colors reflecting the warmth of Sicily create a sense of relaxation and comfort, while the fiery sunsets of the Aeolian Islands offer the true essence of the beauty of the island and its surroundings.

We stayed in one of the most eminent suites boasting a huge terrace and a private pool, so-called the Terrace suite, where the true luxury of bliss is combined with the most first-class amenities for an unforgettable vacation.

The room provides: Living and sleeping area,
Sky Satellite TV, Air-conditioning, complimentary Minibar with soft and alcoholic drinks (replaced daily), Telephone, Safe, Wi-Fi and bathroom with all bath amenities and high-end perfumes.
THE BEST OF ISLAND’S GASTRONOMY

The cuisine at THERASIA RESORT SEA & SPA is a unique journey into the fusion of Mediterranean flavor and creativity, territory and culture that have always distinguished Sicilian gastronomy.

Traditional dishes and excellent ingredients are concentrated in an elegant and refined balance of aromas, colours and powerful emotions: vegetables come from their own vegetable garden, cheeses from Syracuse, fish and seafood from the Aeolian Islands, meat from the Nebrodi Mountains, PDO dairy products, pistachio nuts from Bronte and chocolate from Modica.

The restaurant L’Arcipelago offers to start your morning with an excellent breakfast, where from 07.00 to 11.00 a wide range of products of the highest quality is offered in a buffet style.

Meat and cheese delicacies, fresh fruit and vegetables, various juices and drinks, a wide range of breads, pastries and croissants.

Of the savory options baked daily the undoubtedly world famous Sicilian arancini (rice balls) offered here in 4 variations.

The selection of sweet offerings created by the Head pastry Chef Gianluca Colucci, who also curates pastry for both fine dining restaurants of the resort, ranges from homemade cookies to local cakes, jams and confitures.

And each morning you can observe the process making focaccia in the open kitchen of the restaurant.

In the evening, don’t deny yourself the pleasure of dining in one of gourmet restaurants with magnificent sea views, where you can discover new insights into Sicilian cuisine — IL Cappero or the vegetarian restaurant I Tenerumi.

First evening we explored IL Cappero restaurant, which received its first Michelin star in 2024. The restaurant’s cuisine has traveled a long journey from Sicily around the world, absorbing new influences and reinterpretations.

Today it embodies a philosophy focused on purity of flavor, sustainability and local production.
Chef Onofrio Pagnotto‘s inspiration is evident in every dish, with an emphasis on carefully selected ingredients from sustainable sources as well as local, organic and seasonal products.

Onofrio, who gained experience in restaurants such as Forte Village in Sardinia, NOMA in Copenhagen, Azurmendi Atxa in Spain and SUM in Catania, came to Sicily at the age of 18, and considers Sicily his home land because here he discovered the culinary culture that shaped his idea of cooking.

And since 2021, he is also the sous chef of the I Tenerumi restaurant, also located at THERASIA RESORT.

Onofrio presents its monoprotein cuisine, which is characterized by a clear identity and concentrated flavor and enchants with only one or at most two elements.
A choice of taste and style that reinforces the commitment to waste nothing. An experience that clearly tells the flavor and knowledge of the island.

Two tasting options are available — 5 Course or 7 Course Menu.

The sommelier will suggest the best wine option to accompany the meal, or, if you prefer a wine pairing, you’ll be introduced to the fine selection of Sicilian wines carefully selected to emphasize every moment of the tasting.
