HISTORIC FACTS
This historic building in Edwardian style was built in 1882 and was originally conceived as an apartment building. The southern part of the building served for the public, while the northern entrance was reserved for the royal family. In 1904, the apartments burned down and, after renovations in 1908, were converted into a hotel, which was originally called Hyde Park. The hotel was visited by several members of the royal family, prominent statesmen.
In 1996, the Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group purchased the hotel and carried out a complete renovation. In 2000, the hotel reopened under the MANDARIN ORIENTAL HYDE PARK, LONDON brand.
Due to a minor rooftop fire, the hotel was temporarily closed and in June 2018 the hotel completed the most extensive restoration in the building’s 115-year history, after which the hotel fully reopened with a fresh look and feel of a new beginning.
Recent renovations have made the interior of the hotel much brighter, more welcoming and more sophisticated, including a marble lobby with a staircase just in front of the entrance, a flower-shaped glass chandelier in the lobby, glass lighting around the perimeter, as well as feather-etched mirrors, leaf-pattern carpets and clouds and huge color photographs of nature on the walls.
Internationally acclaimed designer Joyce Wang, who took part in the hotel’s restoration, drew inspiration from the natural beauty of Hyde Park and the Golden Age of Travel in the 20th century to create the hotel’s exquisite interiors, rooms and suites.
With art-deco elements and carefully curated artwork, MANDARIN ORIENTAL HYDE PARK is one of the most outstanding places to stay in legendary London.

DINNER BY HESTON BLUMENTHAL
Dinner by Heston Blumenthal is now one of the world’s most celebrated restaurants and holder of two Michelin stars.
Heston Blumenthal‘s passion for historic British gastronomy is reflected in his menu.
In the past in England, the main meal was dinner, which was eaten at noon until dark. By the mid-1800s, people were dining later. People working in cities took their meals at 5:00 pm when they returned home, while in rural areas the main meal was still taken at noon.
Today, depending on where you are in the British Isles, “Dinner” can be served either during lunch or dinner, this made “Dinner” a natural choice due to its quintessentially British quirky history and linguistic playfulness.
The guest is offered two types of menu: Three-Course Sample Lunch Menu and Five-Course Sample Tasting Menu. You can also order dishes from A là carte menu.
