PALÁCIO LUDOVICE‘s privileged location allows guests to experience the very heart of Lisbon, places that retain their traditional charm and elegance. There are restaurants and cafes, boutiques of famous brands, Livraria Bertrand — the oldest bookstore in the country opened in 1732, the famous clothing store Paris em Lisboa, the mythical coffee shop A Brasileira, where you can enjoy a cup of coffee next to the famous statue of the poet Fernando Pessoa.

Arriving in Lisbon in early 1700, João Federico Ludovice was commissioned to realize the architectural desires of King João V. Looking for a place to build a private residence for himself and his descendants, he found the ideal place in the mythical Bairro Alto.

The facade of the hotel consists of 5 floors of different heights and sizes with a large central door decorated with pilasters, stone-framed windows, balconies with beautiful views, blue and white tiled walls of the 18th century, a chapel with Masonic symbols and a Hebrew inscription, palace halls with stucco ceilings and majestic staircase.

It was the first palace of its kind, occupying an entire block, which was later transformed into a stylish hotel under the direction of the architect and designer Miguel Câncio Martins, internationally recognized for emblematic projects such as the Buddha Bar in Paris, the Opium in London, and for hotels such as Quinta da Comporta in Portugal.

Under his care, the original white-and-blue tiles from the 18th century, its fresco paintings and stucco ceilings were preserved, and a new and palatial accommodation arose, marking the beginning of a new era in this historical landmark.
