The 5-star design resort Altis Belém Hotel & Spa offers its own enchanting microcosm of exotic travel, fine dining and serene relaxation.
Altis Belém Hotel & Spa is available with Marriott Bonvoy and is the sixth hotel in the Altis Hotels Group.
Design & Surroundings
Altis Belém Hotel & Spa, which opened its doors in 2009, is located in Lisbon’s picturesque Belém area on the banks of the Tagus River, representing a contemporary view of the Golden Ages of Portugal during the discoveries in the 15th and 16th centuries.
The hotel’s two intersecting snow-white perpendicular structures naturally blend into the surrounding landscape. Architect João Almeida revived the main part of the hotel with “lace waves” — movable shutters designed to protect rooms from the sun. The simple composition and linear volume of the two-story structure helps highlight the views from the city to the river.
“The building itself was conceived to be as integrated into the landscape as possible, so that nothing could take away the attention of the guest to contemplate the surrounding landscapes,” — says the hotel General Manager Bruno Pinto Correia. —The hotel is entirely dedicated to a leisurely holiday on the coast”.

Bruno Correia started his work at the hotel from the very beginning, and since 2018 has taken the GM position.
“It’s a special feeling when you have a real evolution in the hotel team that you have known for many years. And you grow with it, — Bruno continues. — We have a very trusting and free relationship with our employees, any of them can easily contact me with a request or proposal. I am always open to communications both with my colleagues and with our guests”.
Altis Belém Hotel & Spa is called an ode to Portuguese discoveries. The theme of discovery intricately permeates all 50 of the hotel’s luxurious rooms (including 5 suites), captivating and seducing with an exotic journey displayed on illustrated wall panels that personalize each one.
This atmosphere allows you to travel from Mauritania on the west coast of Africa, through Arabia, India, Siam, Osaka and through Brazil to the tropics. Glass walls and modern furniture in the lobby and rooms emphasize the overall style while maintaining the hotel’s inherent monochrome.
Diplomatic & Minimalistic
The bright corner Diplomatic Suite, from the windows of which a magnificent view of the river is provided, as well as he majestic statue of Cristo Rei, the monumental ensemble Padrão dos Descobrimentos, dedicated to the outstanding Portuguese figures of the era of the great geographical discoveries, can rightfully be called one of the best hotel rooms.
The room has all the necessary amenities: a seating area, work desk, free Wi-Fi, Full HD LCD TV with digital guest service, electronic safe, Nespresso coffee machine. The large bedroom has a double bed, duvets and a choice of pillows, Egyptian cotton and linen bed-clothes, electrically controlled blackout blinds, bathrobe and slippers.
The most intriguing part of the room is a bathroom made of marble and surrounded by glass on both sides, which is located in the bedroom area. In addition to the “transparent” bath, there is a shower cabin with everything you need: hairdryer, set of towels, branded bath perfumery.
